The Hermitage is the home of Andrew Jackson, the seventh President of the United States. It is considered to be the most authentic early presidential home in the nation.
General Jackson welcomed many important visitors to The Hermitage throughout his life. As you take a walk through the beautiful, vintage Tennessee farm that was the home of the Jackson family, you’ll experience that same welcome that comes from The Hermitage staff. During your tour of the estate the staff will provide you and amazing experience as you go through the mansion, garden, slave quarters, and the original family log cabin built in 1804.
There are several different interactive tours to choose from. The General’s Tour includes access to the grounds, mansion, exhibit gallery, film and store. You’ll have a self-guided audio tour and an interpreter-led mansion tour. If you choose The President’s Tour it will upgraded, your self-guided audio to a multimedia tour. The player features period images, an interactive map and a timeline not available anywhere else on the tour. You will also receive a 10% discount for the Museum Store.
The Hermitage also offers a special Lantern Evening Tour. This is a special 90-minute guided lantern-lit tour that will go on a ghostly voyage into The Hermitage mansion, Rachel and Andrew’s tomb and the First Hermitage cabin. Make sure to visit The Hermitage website for additional seasonal tours.
